Walk Redbridge: exploring the Borough on foot

The Walk Redbridge brochure is designed to make it as easy as possible for you to start leisure walking. It gives bus routes to the walks' starting points and grades each walk depending on the type of terrain.

Historic walks

Discover the history on your doorstep, take a 60-70 minute stroll from Barkingside to Ilford War Memorial via historic sites in Aldborough or discover the history of Wanstead.

Thousands of people have rediscovered the joys of playing football again thanks to a slowed-down version of the game.

Walking football aims to inspire people back into exercise as it’s played at a more leisurely pace and is kinder to the knees! It is also perfect for people who are recovering from a long term injury and want to continue to enjoy playing football.

The rules are much the same as its speedier cousin, however there are some differences. The squads are smaller (between 5 and 7-a-side), free kicks are indirect, kick-ins replace throws, there is no offside, the ball must be kept below head height and, of course, anything so much as a jog is prohibited.

The session runs every Tuesday from 2pm to 3pm at Lucozade Powerleague Fairlop, Forest Road, Ilford IG6 3HJ. £2 per session.

Sessions are run by an FA coach and are open to all abilities.

To book call 020 8708 0955.
