Apply to start primary school reception for September 2025

Applications can be made from 1 September 2024, the closing date is 15 January 2025 at 11.59pm. Applications can only be made online via eAdmissions.

This application applies to children with birthdays between 1 September 2020 and 31 August 2021.

If you are applying for a Redbridge community school, read the Admission Arrangements 2025-2026 carefully.

Applying based on where you live

If you live in Redbridge you must apply for a reception school place through us even if the school is not in Redbridge.

If you do not live in Redbridge you need to apply through your own council, this includes applying for school places for a Redbridge school.

We advise all foreign nationals who wish to apply for a state-funded school place, to check that they have a right of abode, or that the conditions of their immigration status permits them to access a state-funded school. If a school is concerned that a child may not have a right to enter the country to access a state-funded school, it cannot deny them a place or remove them from the school roll. Schools will advise parents to check their rights or email the Home Office’s school referrals team so they can investigate further.

You can choose up to six schools and put them in order of preference on your application.  Check the nearest school to you. This is only a guide based on Google maps, to give you an indication of schools near your home address.  The distances provided are not the accurate measurements we use to allocate school places.

Only Seven Kings School, which is an all through school, has a primary catchment area. All other Redbridge primary schools have places allocated in accordance with their admission arrangements oversubscription criteria. For most applicants, this will be based on the distance from the home address to the main entrance of the school.

When to apply

Delayed entry for Summer born children entering Reception for the first time

If you wish to make a Summer Born delayed entry request, please read both the Summer Born section of the Redbridge Admission Arrangements, and the information on the Admission outside normal age group page carefully.

If you are making a request to an academy, foundation or faith school, you MUST contact them directly for information on their arrangements. These schools are their own admission authority, and the Local Authority cannot make a decision on any request for their school.

Apply for transfer to a Junior school

This application applies to children with birthdays from 1 September 2017 and 31 August 2018 who would like to be considered for a place at a Junior school. This includes children currently attending an infant school, as there is no automatic transfer between an Infant school and a linked Junior school. However, children attending the linked Infant School have priority for places at the Junior School, as long as their parents have applied by the deadline of 15 January 2025. This application can only be made online.
