Book a PC and WiFi

PCs can be booked in advance by contacting the individual libraries and will be available for a maximum of 1 hour and 2 hour slots per day. Wipes to clean PC’s and desks between customers are available on request.

We offer free computer and WiFi access to customers with a valid library card.

You can use the computer for:

  • writing documents
  • creating spreadsheets
  • internet
  • emailing
  • preparing presentations
  • picture editing
  • scanning
  • printing 

It is free to use the computers and you will only be charged for the cost of any printing you do.

Some libraries in Redbridge now have 1 computer with ZoomText installed to help visually impaired people.

How to book a computer

You can book a computer session from home (or while you are logged in at the library). You will need your library card barcode number and your PIN. Adults can book a computer for up to 1 hour at Seven Kings Library and 2 hours at any other Redbridge Library per day.

The children's libraries have computers dedicated for their use. We have special firewalls installed for your child's safety and protection online. Children under 14 can book for up to 1 hour a day. Please contact your local branch for details.

Computer help

Redbridge Libraries offer free one-to-one sessions and computer clubs for the complete beginner.

The one-to-one sessions are 1 hour long and delivered at the library with our free computers and internet service.

Volunteers assist customers to improve their computer skills covering basic skills such as:

  • switching a computer on and off
  • reading and sending emails
  • using the internet safely and confidently

Free WiFi

You can also enjoy free wireless internet access at all Redbridge libraries except Aldersbrook and Clayhall libraries. You can log on from anywhere in the library on your own laptop or mobile device after you have registered for an account.

There is no need to book, and you can use the internet for as long as you like up until 10 minutes before the library closes.

How to get online with WiFi

To start browsing the internet using our WiFi you need to connect to the library network called 'Redbridge-Libraries-WiFi'. Once connected, launch your web browser and you will be taken to the Library WiFi login page. If you have not used the service before you will need to register. Once registered, your username and password will work on the WiFi in any Redbridge library.

If you are at a Redbridge library and experience difficulties accessing our free Wifi network please contact a member of staff or the technical support team at Performance Networks.

Web filtering

Please note some sites will be blocked. We use a web filtering technology which blocks websites which can be harmful and offensive.

Electrical power sockets

Use of power points in the library is at the discretion of library staff. If you plug your laptop into a power point where this causes an obstruction to other customers or staff, you will be asked to remove it.
