Youth centres and Youth Bus

 

We offer a wide range of activities including:

  • two after school clubs - activities include arts & crafts, music DJing, sports, cooking and workshops
  • free Internet access
  • holiday activities, including day trips and residential
  • DJ, MC and Music Tech come and learn to DJ and produce your own tunes with the latest software
  • information, advice and guidance (including Young People friendly)
  • C Card distribution point
  • chlamydia screening and pregnancy testing

Membership is £4 a term.

Volunteering opportunities

Are you a young person aged between 16 and 19? If so we offer accredited volunteering opportunities with the most of our programmes.

Activities for young people at Wanstead Youth Centre

Although Wanstead is primarily a youth centre and activities are for young people aged between 13 and 19 year olds, it is also used by  other age groups from pre-school to older people.

The facilities the centre has to offer are:

  • a large hall with a stage
  • gym 
  • sports hall where you can play football, basketball
  • an IT suite
  • a chill-out zone/lounge
  • television room
  • canteen
  • sounds room
  • sensory room

Memberships for Open Access sessions are £4 per term.

Detached Team and the Youth Bus

We work with you, the young people of Redbridge on the streets, estates and parks, who are not accessing existing youth services in Redbridge.

The Youth Bus offers:

  • advice and guidance
  • issue based discussions
  • workshops on the effects of Drugs, Alcohol, and Sexual Health
  • workshops on anti social behaviour and its effects on the community
  • DJ, MC-ing and music workshops
  • computer homework
  • job search & CV preparation session
  • intervention work
  • Youth Bus structured development programmes
  • Playstation 3 Console
  • team building activities
  • excursions, educational trips 
  • individual development plan to support your needs and interests
  • opportunities for young people using the Youth Bus:
  • sport

  • computer internet access
  • group work on issues that are important to young people e.g. relationships, crime, health and education
