Early Career Teachers (ECTs)

ECT Recruitment

Redbridge is an excellent place in which to live and work, benefiting from an attractive and varied environment, providing both rural and urban surroundings.  We have over 1,200 acres of forest within our boundaries and many parks, walks and open spaces.

The borough is within quick and easy access to central London.  The Westfield Stratford City shopping centre is a short trip by train.

Redbridge is a very diverse, outer London borough.  Our schools cater for children from a huge range of backgrounds, faiths and communities.  Our schools are high achieving institutions, incorporating a range of maintained schools, academies, faith schools, non-denominational schools and all through schools.

The London Borough of Redbridge, in association with SixFive Education, are working in partnership with our Head Teachers to recruit primary and secondary trained Early Careers Teachers (ECTs).

We are seeking Early Careers Teachers who are passionate about learning and wish to be part of a strong and supportive team.  The majority of our ECT posts are permanent positions, which shows our strong commitment to our new teachers.

We operate a central application system and take care to ensure that applicants are matched with the appropriate school.  We are committed to the success of our pupils and staff.

We recruit in excess of 100 primary and 100 secondary early career teachers each year.  We provide an excellent induction programme, guiding and supporting ECTs through the new 2‑year induction process in line with the Early Careers Framework.

How to apply

If you wish to teach in a dynamic school within a supportive environment, Redbridge should be your first choice.

ECT induction

A two year Early Career Framework induction for Early Career Teachers follows initial teacher training and the award of Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).  For teachers wishing to continue teaching in maintained schools or non-maintained special schools this is a mandatory requirement.

Statutory induction combines a personalised programme of development and support linked to the Early Career Framework, with the monitoring and assessment of performance against the DfE Teaching Standards.
