Free bike service at Wanstead Farmers Market

Our bike mechanic will check your bike and repair or replace inner tubes, pads and cables if required for free! On the first Sunday of every month at the Wanstead Farmers Market. Find us between 11am and 3pm on Wanstead High Street. You can also drop by for help with route planning or to pick up some local cycling maps and leaflets.

Second hand bikes

You can also sell your old bike or buy a bike at an affordable price at Wanstead Farmers Market. On the first Sunday of every month, 11am and 3pm.

Basic bike maintenance course

Suitable for anyone wanting to learn how to keep a bike in good working order. Learn how to:

  • fix a puncture
  • adjust brakes
  • index gears
  • fix your chain correctly.

This is a hands on course so please bring your own bike to work on and wear suitable clothing.

Cost: £18 per head.

Cycle mechanics qualification

Recycles  offer a formal Cycle Mechanics qualification in partnership with Redbridge Institute of Adult Education. This is the City and Guilds Level 2 Cycle Mechanic Course. View more information on their training options. 

Bike recycling

You can purchase a quality, affordable, reconditioned bike from Recycles, a bike recycling project run by the Salvation Army and supported by Redbridge Council. Recycles is open for bike sales on:

  • Monday 10am to 5pm
  • Friday 10am to 5pm
  • the second Saturday of each month 10am to 2pm

Donate your bike

You can donate your unwanted or out-grown bike at Recycles

Donated bikes are reconditioned and then sold to the public as affordable second-hand bikes with the money going directly back into the project.
