Brownfield land register

The Housing and Planning Act (2016) makes provision for Local authorities prepare, maintain and publish a register of brownfield land suitable for residential development.

This was established by The Housing and Planning Act (2016) and details are in the Town and Country Planning (Brownfield Land Register) Regulations 2017.

The purpose of these registers is to provide up-to-date, publicly available information on brownfield land suitable for housing. This should help provide certainty for developers and communities, and encourage investment in local areas.

Brownfield Land Registers consist of a Part 1 and a Part 2. Local planning authorities have the power to grant brownfield sites permission in principle, a step towards planning permission, by including them in Part 2 of the register. At present Redbridge has not included any sites in Part 2 of the register.

If you have any questions or want to propose an additional site is included, please contact the Council at dpd@redbridge.gov.uk
