Suspend a parking bay

You can apply to temporarily stop anyone being able to use a parking bay or multiple parking bays.  

You can reserve parking in the following parking spaces: 

  • resident bays 
  • business bays 
  • pay and display bays 

What can suspensions be booked for 

You can suspend parking spaces for: 

  • home removals 
  • utilities work (gas, water or electricity) 
  • building works 
  • skip hire 
  • tree pruning 
  • filming 
  • local events  
If you’re going to place a skip on parking spaces, you’ll need to apply for a skip licence and a parking suspension

 

It’s an offence to 

  • hold a parking space by blocking it off with cones or other objects 
  • place a skip or building materials on the road without a licence 

 

Cost 

The cost is £55 per car space (5 meters) per day.  

You’ll need to pay an administration fee of £55. 

How to apply 

You’ll need: 

  • your contact details 
  • your reasons for a parking suspension 
  • your vehicle registration number  
  • the exact location of the parking space you want to suspend

What happens next? 

We’ll let you know our decision within seven working days.  

If we approve your application, 

  • we’ll call you to take payment 
  • we’ll put up notices to let other road users know of the change. 

 

Cancel or change your suspension 

You will need to contact us. Email parkingandtrafficenforcement@redbridge.gov.uk 

It’s not normally possible to change the location or start date of a suspension booking with less than five working days’ notice.  

If the suspension notices have already been put on street, we cannot amend the booking. You’ll not be given a refund.
