Funeral parking permit
If there has been a bereavement, we can arrange for a temporary relaxation of parking enforcement.
If any vehicles are parked dangerously or causing an obstruction, we may still need to enforce these.
Parking at a residential property (Controlled Parking Zones)
In some faiths, it's customary for the body of the deceased to return to a residential property the evening before or on the morning of the funeral, allowing visitors to pay their respects.
We allow a temporary relaxation of restrictions for up to ninety minutes in Controlled Parking Zones to support this tradition.
Outside of that window, visitors may:
- park in the streets where we have confirmed that the restrictions have been relaxed
- use nearby paid-for parking bays (RingGo)
- use visitor parking vouchers
- use public transport
How to apply
- email parkingandtrafficenforcement@redbridge.gov.uk
- attach documentation from the funeral director or undertaker (for example, a schedule of proceedings) confirming transportation of the deceased to the address
You'll need to let us know at least 24 hours before the concession is required.
If we receive your request before 11am we'll look to respond the same day. If your request is received after 11am we look to respond by 10am next day at the latest.
Parking at a religious institution (Controlled Parking Zones)
We allow a two and a half hour relaxation of parking restrictions for funeral services held at religious institutions within Controlled Parking Zones.
Outside of that two-hour window, visitors may:
- park in the streets where we have confirmed that the restrictions have been relaxed
- use nearby paid-for parking bays (RingGo)
- use public transport
How to apply
- email parkingandtrafficenforcement@redbridge.gov.uk
- attach a copy of the Green Slip
You'll need to let us know at least 24 hours before the concession is required.
If we receive your request before 11am we'll look to respond the same day. If your request is received after 11am we look to respond by 10am next day at the latest.
Parking at graveyards or crematoriums
All cemeteries and crematoriums in Redbridge have their own off-street parking facilities.
We do not provide additional parking concessions for these locations.
Parking for wakes, life celebrations or hospitality
We do not offer parking concessions for events held after the funeral, such as wakes, life celebrations, or post-funeral hospitality.
Attendees are encouraged to use public transport or nearby public parking facilities.
