Important notice about resident parking permits
We're moving to a new online service for parking permits. This means that our online permit services will be temporarily unavailable until Monday 1 September.
Renew a resident permit
If you're an existing resident permit holder and your permit has expired or is about to expire, you do not need to do anything. We’ll automatically extend your current permits until Sunday 14 September.
You’ll need to renew using the new online service once it’s live.
Change of vehicle
If you're an existing resident permit holder and have changed your vehicle, email us at parkingpermits@redbridge.gov.uk. We’ll help you to update your permit details.
New resident permit
If you’ve recently moved into the borough and need a new resident parking permit, you’ll need to use the link below to submit your request.
We’ll contact you by telephone to take payment. For your security, we’ll quote your vehicle registration number and email address so you can identify that we’re from the council.
You need a valid resident’s parking permit to park a car or van on the street outside your home in Redbridge.
You do not need a residents parking permit for a motorcycle.

A residents parking permit allows you to park in one of Redbridge’s controlled parking zones.

To get a residents parking permit, you must:
- live in Redbridge
- own or keep a vehicle in Redbridge
- be the main driver or registered keeper of the vehicle
How long it takes to get a permit
It takes up to 10 working days for a resident’s parking permit to arrive by post.
While you wait for your permit to arrive
You’ll not be able to park in your parking zone until you receive the parking permit and can display this in your car.

We'll automatically extend your current permit. We're changing to a new system and will contact you once this is ready.

What you need
To order a parking permit:
- your vehicle registration (number plate)
- your home address (in the zone where you’ll park)
- proof of your address – we can use a registered Council Tax account, or digital photos or scans of two documents from:
- a bank statement
- a utility bill
- proof that you own the vehicle or that is a company car registered to you
- a debit or credit card
How much parking permit costs
You'll need a permit for each vehicle you want to park outside your home. This includes petrol, diesel, hybrid and electric vehicles.
The cost of each permit increases for each new vehicle you add.
You can order a parking permit for six or 12 months.
Residents who can get free parking permits
You can order a residents parking permit for free if:
- you're a blue badge holder
6 month residents parking permit
1st vehicle £25
2nd vehicle £100
Each additional vehicle £160
12 month residents parking permit
1st vehicle £37.50
2nd vehicle £175
Each additional vehicle £290
Cancel your permit
A refund will be issued for each full calendar month left on the permit. There is a £27.50 admin fee which will be taken from the total refund amount.
We’ll refund the amount to the same card you used to order the parking permit.
You’ll need to return your original parking permit.
Change the details of resident’s parking permit
You need to update your parking permit for it to stay valid when you:
- move home (in Redbridge)
- buy or start using a new vehicle
- change your name
You'll need photos or scans of two documents for proof of a change of address or your name.
- a bank statement
- a utility bill
- proof that you own the vehicle or that is a company car registered to you
- marriage or civil partnership certificate or deed poll
Changing the details of a permit costs £27.50.
Change your details on a resident’s parking permit
Your new paper permit will be sent by post (Royal Mail) to your home address. We aim to deliver updated permits within 10 working days.
Lost or stolen parking permit
If a permit is lost or stolen you must tell us immediately.
Replacement permits cost £27.50. There is no charge if the permit was stolen and you provide evidence of this.
The new permit will show the same expiry date as your previous permit.
Lost permits
You'll need to confirm the permit reference number.
Stolen permits
Report it to the police right away.
