Redbridge secures £7.5m Government funding to strengthen services for the future

Redbridge Council has secured £7.5 million from Government to support its modernisation programme, following a successful bid that reflects confidence in the council's plans for the future.
The funding places Redbridge among a small number of local authorities selected to receive support through the programme and represents a strong endorsement of the council's approach to modernisation.
Redbridge's modernisation programme is focused on ensuring the council remains financially sustainable and delivers value for money for taxpayers, while also supporting the council's ongoing efforts to continually improve services for residents and make them easier to access.
The funding comes as Redbridge continues to respond to the financial challenges facing local government. Earlier this year, the Government recognised the borough's historic underfunding through a fairer funding settlement worth an additional £61.5 million over three years. While that investment is welcome, the phased nature of the settlement means the council must continue taking action now to manage rising demand, strengthen its financial resilience and ensure services remain sustainable in the years ahead.
The council's modernisation programme is already delivering results, with savings and efficiencies being identified across the organisation while supporting improvements to services for residents. The additional £7.5 million investment will help accelerate that work and build on progress already underway.
Redbridge's approach has also received independent recognition. The IMPOWER Index recently ranked the borough among the most productive councils in England and the second most productive in London, recognising its ability to deliver strong outcomes for residents while managing public finances responsibly.
Taken together, the Government's fair funding settlement and this latest investment demonstrate recognition of both the challenges Redbridge has faced and confidence in the council's plans to address them.

The £7.5 million funding was secured through a Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government programme designed to help councils become more sustainable, resilient and better equipped to meet future challenges.
