Update on Wanstead High School Education Block
Published: 22 October 2026
The Council is continuing to make progress on the Wanstead High School Education Block project, with several key milestones now being reached.
Stakeholder working group
A stakeholder working group is being established to help keep the community informed as the project progresses. The group will include representatives from the school, the local community and other key stakeholders and will receive regular project updates from Council officers.
Its purpose will be to receive regular project updates, stay informed of progress and help share information more widely across the community.
The Council's Capital Delivery Team will be contacting interested individuals to agree arrangements for the first meeting, including the terms of reference, meeting frequency and expected outcomes.
Site delivery phase begins
The newly appointed contractor took possession of the site on 21 October 2026,marking another significant milestone for the project.
As a result, residents, parents and the wider community will begin to see increased activity on site over the coming weeks. This will include a greater contractor presence, site clearance works, adjustments to hoarding, and health and safety reviews and improvement works.
These activities will help pave the way for the main construction phase and mark the project's transition into site delivery.
The Council remains committed to delivering the completed facilities for pupils, staff and the wider community and will continue to provide updates as further milestones are reached.
