Leader's message - Friday 6 June 2025

Published: 6 June 2025

This weekend, Muslim families across Redbridge and around the world will be celebrating Eid al-Adha. This important religious holiday marks a time of sacrifice and faith, coinciding with the annual Hajj pilgrimage to Mecca. To everyone observing, I wish you and your families Eid Mubarak.

This week is Volunteers Week, and we have been recognising the local groups and individuals who give their time to support others. From the volunteers behind Valentine's Park Run to the residents who take part in community planting days, your contribution helps keep Redbridge strong. Thank you.

Earlier this week, I joined residents and council staff in Goodmayes Park to help plant new flowerbeds. These will brighten up the park, support biodiversity and improve the experience for everyone using the space. Similar planting will be rolled out in parks across the borough in the coming weeks.

These improvements are part of our wider effort to keep Redbridge clean, safe and welcoming. We are working hard every day to deliver services people rely on and make our borough the best it can be.

There is always more to do. I appreciate your support and contributions. Whether it's reporting an issue, supporting a neighbour, or volunteering in your local community, it makes a real difference.

Redbridge is a great place to live, and together, we are working to make it even better.
