Waste Collection Update

Thursday 25 July
RCS crews have now successfully cleared nearly all the scheduled black bin waste and recycling collections. Please be advised the reporting system for missed collections has also been reactivated.
Due to the disruption caused by Unite’s industrial action, RCS is working hard to clear the remaining garden waste collections that remain behind schedule.
Week 1 - green garden waste collection (Monday 15 July – Friday 19 July)
- Any outstanding collections for the above schedule will be made between Monday 29 July and Friday 2 August.
Week 2 - green garden waste collection (Monday 22 July– Friday 26 July)
- Any outstanding collections for the above schedule will be made by the end of Saturday 27 July.
We appreciate your understanding during this period and support in leaving your waste outside as we work to catch up and provide the service you need.
Tuesday 23 July – 6pm
RCS crews have successfully cleared the remaining black bin waste from yesterday's and today’s schedules. RCS are now entirely up to speed with black bin collections.
The crews will now focus on clearing the small number of outstanding recycling collections.
Please be advised the reporting system for missed collections has also been reactivated.
Due to the disruption caused by Unite’s industrial action, garden waste collections remain behind schedule. Please continue to leave your garden waste out, and the crew will do their best to pick up all the outstanding collections.

Monday 22 July – 4pm
Today, RCS crews made significant progress in clearing the remaining black bin waste and recycling collections from Friday’s schedule, while nearly all of today's scheduled recycling and refuse collections have been completed.
RCS are confident that scheduled refuse and recycling collections will return to normal by tomorrow.

Saturday 20 July – update 5pm
As of 5pm on Saturday 20 July, RCS crews have made significant progress in clearing most of the black bin waste and recycling collections from Friday’s schedule in Chadwell Heath, Clementswood, Goodmayes, Ilford Town, Loxford, and Mayfield.
If the crews didn’t collect your black win waste and recycling today, please be assured that it will be collected on Monday.

Saturday 20 July
Following industrial action by Unite the Union, we are working hard to catch up with recycling and waste collections.
Each day, we are getting closer to being back on track so that normal collections can resume as soon as possible. Thank you for your patience. We know this is frustrating for you, and we sincerely apologise for the inconvenience.
On Saturday, 20 July, RCS crews will clear the remainder of the black bin collections and the majority of the recycling collections from Friday’s collection schedule in Chadwell Heath, Clementswood, Goodmayes, Ilford Town, Loxford, and Mayfield.
If the crews do not collect your recycling and waste today, it will be collected on Monday.
Please be advised that garden waste collections are delayed. Please leave garden waste outside your property, and we will collect it as soon as possible.

Friday 19 July
We are working hard to catch up with waste collections, following industrial action. Each day we are getting closer to being back on track, so that normal collections can resume as soon as possible.
Thank you for your patience. We know this is frustrating for you and we sincerely apologise for the inconvenience.
On Friday 19 July, we are clearing the last of the collections from our Thursday area, in Barkingside, Aldborough, Newbury, Seven Kings and Chadwell Heath. We will then move on to our usual Friday collection, which covers the remaining areas of Chadwell Heath, Seven Kings and Ilford, Goodmayes and Dagenham.
Thank you for your support in leaving your waste at your boundary, as we continue to work to catch up and provide the service you need.
Thursday 18 July
Despite the recent industrial action by Unite the Union, we are making every effort to maintain our waste collection programme this week (Monday 15 July – Friday 19 July)
Please put out your black bins and recycling boxes as usual if your collection is today or was missed yesterday. If residents have too much recycling for their boxes, they can place it in a cardboard box or clear sack for collection.
Garden waste collection has resumed this week. If your collection is today, or was missed yesterday, we will try our best to collect it. However, there may be delays due to the extra accumulation of garden waste caused by the industrial action.
We understand that Unite's industrial action may cause inconvenience, and we appreciate your understanding during this period. We also ask that you remain patient whilst Redbridge Civic Services (RCS) continues to clear any outstanding collections.

If your collection was missed last week or any waste or side waste wasn’t collected today please either:
- Store your waste until your usual collection resumes this week (put your waste out on your usual collection day from today Monday 8 July).
- Dispose of waste and recycling for free at Chigwell Road Reuse and Recycling Centre (please remember to bring proof of address, a driver’s license with your current address or a recent council tax bill - this includes e-bills shown on an electronic device).
