Work Redbridge helps more than 400 people into employment

Published: 20 July 2022

An annual report recently issued by Work Redbridge, Redbridge Council's employment support service, revealed they helped more than 400 residents gain active employment during 2021/22.

Work Redbridge provides Information, Advice and Guidance to any Redbridge resident aged 18+ looking for support to get into work, training, volunteering or self-employment. They also support those in work who are looking to increase their hours, change careers or find more secure employment.

The Work Redbridge service is delivered from the newly designed Hub Central in Redbridge Central Library. The team also co-locate at Jobcentre Plus and Redbridge Institute every week. Over the last year, they have also delivered outreach sessions at Hainault library, the Orchard Housing Office, hostel accommodation and temporary accommodation hotels within Redbridge.

This year, Work Redbridge supported nearly 100 residents into work who were claiming Council Tax Reduction. As a result of securing employment, they no longer claim Council Tax reduction (CTR) or have moved to a lower CTR scheme. In addition, seven local people helped by Work Redbridge saw a positive change in their accommodation status. The Work Redbridge Service improves lives, supports financial self-sufficiency, and saves money to spend on vital services.

Cllr Kam Rai, Deputy Leader of the Council & Cabinet Member for Finance, Leisure and Culture, said: "Work Redbridge is helping transform the lives of local people, offering support, training, and access to good jobs.

Times are tough right now for families in Redbridge and across the country. That's why we're stepping up support and services like Work Redbridge for those who need a helping hand as the cost of living soars."
