Redbridge Council led court prosecutions leave grime crime offenders with fines totalling over £25k
Published: 15 January 2026
Four grime crime cases heard in court on the same day, have resulted in fines of over £25k - the highest total amount issued in a single day for court prosecutions led by Redbridge Council’s Neighbourhood Enforcement Team.
Two Redbridge based businesses, and six locals were all found guilty recently in a series of waste related court prosecutions brought before Barkingside Magistrates Court all on the same day.
The successful prosecutions involved:
· A family from Seven Kings Road who were each charged with multiple counts of fly-tipping for dumping rubbish on their street by the junction of Green Lane, Seven Kings. All three pleaded guilty and were issued with fines and court costs giving a combined total of £7410.
· Three people from the same property in Fairfield Road, Ilford, who were charged with fly-tipping after furniture and household waste found dumped in Ilford, was traced back to them. They each pleaded guilty leading to a combined total of £6,267 being issued in fines and court costs.
· An Ilford based take-away outlet charged with multiple counts of fly-tipping, and one charge of failing to produce documents required by law to show how a business disposes of its commercial waste. After pleading guilty to all charges, the business was sentenced to fines, court and council costs - all totalling £4902
· A food outlet in Ilford that repeatedly left its bins overflowing with rubbish and dumped waste on the street, was found guilty of two fly-tipping offences and breaching a legal order relating to the storage of its commercial waste. The business was sentenced to fines, and council costs – all totalling £7274
All four cases were brought to prosecution by Redbridge Council’s Neighbourhood Enforcement Team after the law breakers failed to pay the initial Fixed Penalty Notices issued to them for their grime crimes.
A combined total of £25,853 was handed out in fines and courts costs across the four cases, making it the team’s most successful day in court.
The Council’s rate for securing court convictions and high fines, act as a warning to others who think they can get away with making a mess in Redbridge.
