Redbridge Rapid Response Clean Team hits the streets!

Published: 05 February 2026 rapid response vehicle

A brand-new Rapid Response Clean Team has hit the streets of Redbridge to ensure the most urgent street scene issues reported across the borough are dealt with faster than ever.

The move is part of Redbridge Council’s commitment to cleaner, and safer streets, and further strengthens the borough’s existing Street Cleansing service.

The additional service means local reports about urgent street scene issues including offensive graffiti, large fly-tips, and spills, can be responded to even faster.

At the heart of the new offering is a specially-equipped vehicle, staffed by two dedicated team members who will operate it throughout the day.

The vehicle is designed to handle a wide range of issues, thanks to being kitted with a range of equipment including brooms, cleansing apparatus and jet wash capability.

It will also be available for out-of-hours emergencies, including support with clear-ups after road traffic incidents.

Cabinet Member for Environment and Sustainability Cllr Jo Blackman said: “While we’ve always responded to urgent reports, it often meant pulling teams away from scheduled work. With this new setup, our regular cleansing operations can continue uninterrupted, while the Rapid Response vehicle tackles ad-hoc priorities across the borough.

“This is a practical, community-minded improvement, which also reflects our ongoing investment in public spaces, and our pride in keeping the borough looking its best. Residents can easily report any street cleansing issues through the Love Clean Streets app or via our website. Do keep an eye out for the new rapid response vehicle - you can't miss it with its bright pink branding!”
