Leader's update - Friday 5 December 2025
Published: 05 December 2025
We are currently asking you to have your say on Redbridge’s future. Please encourage residents to take part in our 2026/27 budget survey so that they can tell us what matters most to them. Although we are 4th-lowest funded borough in London, we are still ranked 1st in London and 2nd nationally for efficiency. Since 2010, we have lost £160m funding but we will continue to support essential service.
Last night I had the pleasure of attending the 2025 Ilford and Redbridge Business Awards. Once again, Cyril Bekoe, Ilford BID Manager, put on a fantastic event and it was a pleasure to speak with local businesses and celebrate their outstanding achievements. The strength of Redbridge lies in its people, its communities, and its businesses. By working together, we can ensure that Redbridge continues to grow, to regenerate, and to thrive.
This week, I visited Valentines Park and Goodmayes Park to have a look at the progress and plans to dredge and clear the waterways, our parks are fantastic but we recognise the waters needed attention so that the wildlife can continue to thrive.
The next issue of Redbridge Life should be dropping through your door from next week. There is lots of information on what the council has been doing since the last edition, with also information on what events you can attend with your family over the next few weeks on the run up to Christmas and provide residents with changes to their bin collections over the Christmas and New Year period. Please look out for your copy and email us if you have not received yours.
In the next few weeks I am hoping to share with you some exciting plans to open a community organisation hub in Ilford that will enable some of the smaller groups, that are set-up by some local heroes who want to support and help others, have access to a small space that will bring people together.
Finally, thank you to everyone who continues to report issues through the Love Clean Streets app and our website. Whether it’s fly-tipping, graffiti, or overgrown trees, your reports help us respond quickly and keep Redbridge clean and safe.
Wishing you all a great weekend!
