Smoother journeys ahead as Cranbrook Road benefits from resurfacing programme

Cranbrook Road is the latest road to benefit from our resurfacing programme, helping create safer streets and smoother journeys. It forms part of a wider £35m multi‑year programme of works, committing to sustained investment in the borough’s highway network.

The latest round of works have been completed on over 6000m2 of road between Beehive Lane and Gants Hill Roundabout on Cranbrook Road. Works were carried out overnight to minimise disruption to road users.

The scheme is being delivered through the Council's Highways Capital Maintenance Programme as part of its ongoing investment in maintaining and improving the borough's road network.

Cllr Jo Blackman, Cabinet Member for Environment and Neighbourhoods, said:

“Within this year’s 2026/2027 carriageway programme, we have resurfaced over 85,000 square metres of roadway, the equivalent of around 326 full‑size tennis courts. We’re following this up with a sustained programme of works to the tune of £35m investment in our roads over the next four years. This sustained investment in our road network is going to make a huge difference for local residents and others moving through the borough, and will lead to safer, improved road conditions and smoother travel across Redbridge.”
