Independence Day celebrations on Ilford Lane

As we approach Pakistan Independence Day on Friday 14 August and India Independence Day on Saturday 15 August, please remember that significant delays are expected in the Ilford Lane area during these times.

A Road Closure Programme will be in place on Ilford Lane from:

• 12pm on Friday 14 August to 3am on Saturday 15 August

Ilford Lane will remain open and accessible for the emergency services.

These measures support crowd safety, traffic management and emergency access. Throughout the celebrations, our teams will be providing regular patrols and a visible presence, working closely with the police to keep the area safe and welcoming.

We will be actively targeting illegal street trading, which will not be permitted. In the past, items and services have been sold that could put residents at risk, and it’s important we protect both public safety and the many legitimate businesses on Ilford Lane who operate responsibly all year round.

Please also note that no fireworks are to be brought to or let off on Ilford Lane. A zero‑tolerance approach will be in place to ensure everyone’s safety.
