Students in Redbridge celebrate A-Level results
Published: 17 August 2023
Students across Redbridge are once again celebrating success as they receive their A-level results.
As students celebrate, Redbridge Council offers congratulations and warm thanks to all schools, teachers, support staff, students and parents for their dedication, sacrifice and hard work.
There has been a return to pre-pandemic grading this summer in England, with protection in place for students. It is most meaningful to compare results to 2019, the last summer exam series before the pandemic. A-Level results in the borough show 16.5 per cent of students achieving AAB+.
For many students, it was their first time taking part in a school examination. Many of this year's cohort didn't sit GCSEs due to the recent COVID-19 pandemic.
The Leader of Redbridge Council, Cllr Jas Athwal, visited Oaks Park High School and Seven Kings School this morning. He said: " Huge congratulations to students across Redbridge, who have worked incredibly hard for their results today. We are proud of your achievements. Even more so than your individual results, I am proud of the work ethic you’ve all demonstrated through challenging times in your education.
“I visited Oaks Park High School and Seven Kings School this morning, and it was plain to see the joy in many of their students’ eyes and their excitement for the future. The schools in Redbridge are exceptional, and I’d like to thank our dedicated teaching staff, who have nurtured this year’s cohort and helped set them up for the next stage in their lives.
“If you haven’t quite got the grades you need, then Redbridge Council is here to help you with your next steps. Our Connexions team is at hand, so call them if you need some advice.”
Headteacher of Oaks Park High School, Joanne Hamill, said: “We have great kids here at Oaks Park. We’re so proud of all of our students. This is the first time this cohort has taken exams following the pandemic, and they are so resilient and ambitious – they have worked so hard and want to do well.”
