Students across Redbridge excel in exam results

Published: 13 August 2021

There were plenty of smiling faces across Redbridge this week as students collected their A-Level and GCSE results.

Redbridge Council offers its warm thanks and congratulations to all of our schools, teachers, support staff, students and parents who have risen to the considerable challenges resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic.

A-Level results in the borough surpassed both the 2019 and 2020 outcomes, with a hugely impressive 24.7 per cent of students achieving AAB+ and an average points score per entry of 39.45.

GCSE results were also on the rise particularly in English and Maths and in Attainment 8, which measures average grades across eight key subjects.

Cllr Jas Athwal, Leader of Redbridge Council said: “Over the last 18 months we have all endured incredibly difficult and stressful times as a result of the pandemic, and none more so than our students completing their A-Levels and GCSEs. In spite of these significant difficulties Redbridge schools, teachers, their support staff, students and parents have risen to the challenge. The performance of our students is a credit to their hard work, and that of schools and teachers across the borough.”

Cabinet Member Cllr Elaine Norman added: ‘Alongside the hard work of students and support from their families, staff in our schools have worked tirelessly to find ways to support students through the last 12 months and more. The number of Ofsted good and outstanding schools in the borough is a testament to the quality of our education provision’.

Support is available for every student who has questions or concerns relating to their progression.
