National Primary School Offer Day 2022 – majority of people offered first preference

Published: 20 April 2022

Almost 3,300 children got into their first choice of primary school in Redbridge this year. This is the highest number in the past five years, despite a 3.8% increase in on-time applications, according to figures published on National Primary Offer Day (Tuesday, 19 April 2022).

Over nine out of ten (94%) were offered their first or second preference for primary school, while almost nine out of ten (87%) reception applicants were offered their first preference.

A spokesperson from Redbridge Council said: “Starting primary school is an important time for our young people. Even though places at our primary schools are in high demand, we're pleased we’ve seen a significant increase in the number of first preferences met.

“However, we know that some pupils have not been given a school of their preference, and we have a team on hand to help parents with the options available.”

97.21% of applicants were offered one of their six preferences. Families will receive their child’s school place offer via email or text during the evening of National Offer Day.

School places must be accepted by responding to the offer made through the e-admissions portal by 23.59 on 4 May 2022.

The data was released on National Primary School Offer Day by the Pan London Admissions Board, the body with overall responsibility for coordinating school admissions in London.
