Don't miss out on your energy rebate

Don’t miss out on your £150 energy rebate!

Published: 14 April 2022

People living in Redbridge are being urged to claim their £150 energy rebate from the council.

Households in homes classified in bands A-D are entitled to a one-off payment of £150 to support increased energy costs.

In April, most households will receive their energy rebate automatically because they pay their council tax by direct debit.

For anyone who doesn’t pay council tax by direct debit, they can claim their payment.

Redbridge Council is aware that fraudsters have been contacting people pretending to be from their local council in some parts of the UK, asking them for bank details to access their energy payments. Redbridge Council will never call a resident unannounced to request their bank details.

  • Before applying, you will need to confirm that you meet the qualifying criteria:
  • Your property is in council tax bands A to D, or your property is in band E, and you receive disabled relief on 1 April 2022
  • Your property is your sole or main residence
  • You are claiming on behalf of your whole household
  • You have not claimed in respect of any other property in England
  • You will not be able to claim the energy/council tax rebate if:
  • Your property is in council tax band E to H
  • Your property is empty
  • Your property is a second home
  • Your property is a House in Multiple Occupation where the owner is liable
  • You moved in after 1 April 2022.

Your council tax band is shown on your bill or www.gov.uk and can help you find out which band your home is in. Enter your postcode into the online tool to find the band for your home.
