April edition of Redbridge Wall of Shame: Do you recognise the culprits caught on camera dumping their rubbish in Redbridge

Published: 20 April 2022

Following its launch in March the Redbridge Wall of Shame is back for its April edition featuring 6 new grime crime offenders caught on camera making a mess of the borough.

Redbridge Council set up the Wall of Shame to empower local people to help crack down on fly tipping, littering and other grime crime in the borough by viewing the Wall of Shame footage and identifying the people caught on camera breaking the law.

Thanks to eagle-eyed viewers who got in touch about a clip featured on the site last month the council is now investigating a man in connection with graffiti on a wall in Bernards Close, Hainault.

This month’s Wall of Shame features a man dumping a pram, a woman dumping a suitcase, a man discarding litter from his take-away and those who would rather dispose of their bags of rubbish on the street than wait for their regular household waste collection.

If you are able to identify any of the culprits caught on camera please contact Redbridge Council on: Cleansing.Services@redbridge.gov.uk

Robin Payne, Redbridge Council’s Operational Director for Civic Pride, said: “Redbridge is our home and we all deserve to live in a clean and safe environment. The Wall of Shame gives local people the power to fight back against fly-tipping and sends a clear message that we are working together as one community to identify and hold to account those responsible for making a mess in our borough.”

Redbridge Wall of Shame forms part of the council’s on going work under it’s Our Streets strategy to create a cleaner and greener Redbridge. Taking a tough stance on grime crime, the council will fine or prosecute any individual or business caught dumping rubbish in the borough.

Enforcement action is also being coupled with other council led fly-tipping initiatives, including community engagement work, free online workshops on reducing and disposing of waste properly, and targeted fly-tipping operations.

Recent activities have included successful court prosecutions in relation to fly-tips discovered in the borough, and a joint council and police led operation targeting vehicles transporting waste in a bid to weed out potential fly-tippers.

More details on these can be found on the Redbridge Wall of Shame under the news section.

Residents can easily report any fly-tips they spot in the borough online through the council’s Report It page:  https://www.redbridge.gov.uk/report-it/

All fly tips made known to the council are recorded and investigated, with enforcement action being taken if evidence is found. The council aims to clear all recorded fly-tips on council land and the highway within 24 hours of it being reported.
