
Leader's statement on the funeral service for His Royal Highness, Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh

Speaking on behalf of Redbridge Council and the entire borough Cllr Jas Athwal has expressed deep sadness on the passing of His Royal Highness, Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, he said:
"Today we come together to mourn the passing of the Duke of Edinburgh, a pillar of the nation, a dedicated public servant and a dutiful husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.
“In Redbridge and across the world people are paying tribute to HRH Prince Philip, grateful for his service to our country, to our people and to our Queen. Today we celebrate an extraordinary life and mourn an immeasurable loss.”
The televised funeral service for The Duke of Edinburgh will take place on this afternoon (Saturday 17 April) at 3pm, and begin with a national minute's silence. The public have been asked not to attend Royal Residences to lay tributes, but to donate to charity instead
