Help if you’re homeless now

Find somewhere to stay tonight

Contact us if you have nowhere to stay tonight on 0208 708 4002.

What we can help with

We'll give you help based on your situation.

We'll tell you what you need to do and how we'll support you.

Depending on your situation, we'll either:

  • give you advice about how to return home, if it's possible
  • give you advice about finding a new home
  • provide you with temporary accommodation to stay in

We'll talk to you about your options.

Check if you qualify for temporary accommodation

We may be able to provide you with temporary accommodation if you’re:

  • eligible for housing help
  • homeless or threatened with homelessness
  • in a priority or vulnerable need

Temporary accommodation is also called emergency housing.

We cannot offer emergency housing to everyone homeless.

You could be offered:

  • lease accommodation which is likely to be outside of Redbridge and London
  • hostel accommodation which has sharing facilities
  • commercial hotels that have a room and no cooking facilities

We could secure a refuge if you’re fleeing domestic abuse.

You could remain in temporary accommodation for a long time. We must find you alternative option to move on.

You’re priority if you or someone you live with is

  • at risk of domestic abuse
  • pregnant or living with dependant children
  • homeless because of fire, flood or other disaster
  • 16 to 17 years old
  • Are a care leaver under 21 years old
  • you’re fleeing violence from someone who is not a relative or partner

You may be considered vulnerable if you or someone you live with has:

  • mental health problems
  • a physical disability or serious health condition
  • spent time in care, prison or the armed forces

We’ll carry out an assessment looking at your daily care needs. We may need to contact your GP or hospital.
