Register to become a Community Health Champion

Community Health Champions can be anyone in the community living or working in Redbridge. You might be the person that everyone knows and trusts. You might be someone who wants to help in whatever way you can, even if this is your first time.

  • We give Champions information about health and health care in Redbridge
  • Champions share this information with anyone in their community, however they want
  • Champions let us know what is and isn’t working.

As a Champion you can help empower those living and working in Redbridge to remain up to date on information about all aspects of health and health care in Redbridge. It is also a chance to ask questions, share feedback and help shape services.


Role requirements

Community Health Champions will:
  • Share information with family and friends, local groups, or people you work with. You might put posters in shops, on notice boards or in community spaces or you might share posts on social media
  • Tell us how you are getting on so that we can understand what's working well, and what's not working so well in our communities
  • Improve the health and wellbeing of people living in your community, particularly in those communities where health inequalities have been identified
  • Talk to people about your Community Health Champion role and encourage others to be champions
The Public Health team will:
  • Provide up to date, clear and accurate information on health and wellbeing for you to share with your community
  • Support you to respond to any concerns, worries or tensions in your community
  • Provide access to a range of high quality, relevant training and information sessions

We’re looking for volunteers who want to make a difference to their communities and support us by attending community events, sharing messages via social media or existing volunteering initiatives, and generally talking with people and sharing relevant information. We also welcome anyone who speaks other languages, in addition to English.

The role is flexible. You can choose to stay in touch with us on a regular basis or whenever you can spare the time.

  • Relate to a diverse range of people, sensitively
  • Have great social skills and are active listeners
  • Love to learn
