Publication scheme

The Freedom of Information Act requires public authorities to proactively make as much information available to the public.  To do this they are required to adopt a publication scheme which identifies information routinely made available and explains:

  • what
  • where and
  • when

that information can be found, and if there is a charge for it.

There is one approved model publication scheme, provided by the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) which must be adopted by all public authorities in its entirety and cannot be altered.  There are 7 broad categories which are easy to understand and help you find the information you want quickly.

Our publication scheme

Our publication scheme has been developed to fit this model, in line with the guidance issued by the ICO.  You do not need to know which department holds the information you want to find using the scheme. It is web based and commits Redbridge Council to make information available to the public as part of its normal business activities.

Our website is currently in transition to a new version and as a result our publication scheme is being reviewed and is not available using DataShare at present.  We will try to get it back online as soon as possible, but in the meantime we will be providing a document listing all our publications and you can request a copy of them by emailing publications@redbridge.gov.uk and quoting the name of the document.

We are sorry for any inconvenience and hope the scheme will be up and running again shortly.
