Get involved as a business

As a business there are many exciting ways for you to connect with the local community and improve the environment. Explore our ideas below.

Join the Clean Streets Partnership

The Clean Streets Partnership is about your business working with our Neighbourhood Street Scene Team to plan and introduce ways to reduce litter and waste around your premises to keep Redbridge streets clean.

Your business can benefit from the scheme in a number of ways, including:

  • meeting your Corporate Social Responsibilities by doing your bit for the environment and receiving recognition via our enewsletter and other media channels
  • helping you towards ensuring compliance with waste legislation
  • demonstrating good cleansing practices makes you a role model for neighbouring businesses and attracting new customers

Contact your local Neighbourhood Engagement Team for further details about this scheme and to learn more about how to get involved.

Become a Refill business

Did you know the average Londoner uses 175 single-use plastic bottles a year and only half are recycled? Why not join the 12,000 responsible businesses that have signed up as Refill Stations across the UK?

If you’re a business with a publicly accessible tap, then why not allow residents to refill their bottles? It’s super simple to add yourself to the Refill map and join the revolution. You also receive a welcome pack and window sticker upon registration. Refill has been commissioned by the Mayor, Sadiq Khan.

For further details and to register visit the Refill website

Take part in litter picking

Would you like to host a one-off litter picking event or carry out a regular one in your local area? This is a fantastic way to show the community that you care and to raise the profile of your business. The Council will be able to lend you litter pickers and bags to help make this happen.

Open up your garden for community planting

Do you have a green area or planter that local community groups and schools can use for community planting projects?

Get in touch with your local Neighbourhood Team to promote the opportunity in our enewsletter.

Use your garden for composting and reduce your waste

By composting you can reduce your rubbish by at least 30% saving you money. It also means less waste rotting in landfill. Composting is nature's process of recycling kitchen and garden waste into a valuable and nutrient rich food for your garden.

Compost also improves your soil's condition and maintains moisture levels so it's good for the environment and provides you with free compost for your garden and community.

For further details about composting and how to get started visit the composting web page.

Start recycling and encourage customers to reduce, re-use and recycle

Reducing the amount of rubbish that your organisation sends to landfill and can reduce the cost of your waste collections.

There are many commercial recycling collections on the market that you can choose from.

123 Recycle Your WEEE (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment) offers recycling collections for old electrical goods.

Partners’ Programme

We are open to partnering with businesses to develop ways in which we can improve the opportunities, outcomes and experience of children and young people in Redbridge.

Corporate Social Responsibility

If your business is looking to invest employees time, funding or gifts in-kind as part of your Corporate Social Responsibility, then a great way to do this is by working with us to benefit the children and young people in Redbridge.

Our engagement aims to get to the heart of what really matters to children and young people. This information will empower us to identify with children and young people those actions that could make the biggest differences where it really matters.  This means that what you contribute could make a difference to a generation and create a lasting legacy.
