International Day of Play

International Day of Play takes place every year on Thursday 11 June.

It was introduced by the United Nations in 2024 and is supported by UNICEF and UNESCO. The day highlights every child’s right to play, learn and grow in a safe and inclusive environment.

This year we’re celebrating International Day of Play 2026 over a week (Thursday 11 June to Wednesday 17 June) with 64 activities for children and young people across the borough.

Many are free and others are available at a reduced price. Activities include arts and crafts, sports, LEGO sessions and sensory play.

Some activities need to be booked in advance and places are offered on a first come, first served basis.
