Personal Licence
A personal licence is for an individual to provide or authorise the sale of alcohol at a premises holding a premises licence or Temporary Event Notice. Any individual who plans to sell or supply alcohol or authorise the sale or supply of alcohol must apply for a personal licence.
Applications for personal licences must be submitted on the prescribed forms.
Applications can only be considered if the applicant lives in the Borough, if the applicant does not live in Redbridge Borough, the authority recommends submitting the application to your local Licensing Authority where you reside.
You can only apply by email or post. To apply for a Personal Licence you must complete and submit the following:
- The personal licence application form
- The disclosure of convictions and declaration form
- Applicant must hold an alcohol licensing qualification accredited by the Home Secretary. GOV.UK has a list of accredited personal licence qualification providers.
- A basic disclosure issued within a month of the application to obtain a personal licence from the authority. Disclosure and Barring Service has guidance on obtaining a basic criminal record conviction certificate. You can also obtain an online version, a code will be generated and you will need to send that when submitting the application.
- Two passport sized photographs of the applicant, one correctly endorsed. Find out who can countersign the photo to prove the identity of the applicant
- Proof that you are entitled to work in the UK

Personal licence applications must be signed by the applicants, this means solicitors or agents cannot sign on their behalf.
Application fees are non-refundable if an application is withdrawn or rejected. If applying by email, or if you do not have a cheque book, we can give you a call to take payment by card, please request this in your email or on your form and we will call you once the application is allocated to an officer to be processed.

Please allow up to 28 days from the date we receive the complete papers for these to be processed.
If the application is for a Premises Application with us or with another Authority, please note this on the covering email or letter so that they can be more easily linked.
Incomplete applications may be rejected if no response is received to a request for missing items.
