Start litter picking in your area
Get involved in litter picking in Redbridge. Most people care about their local area, but unfortunately, not everyone takes their rubbish home.
Community litter picking is a great way to keep your neighbourhood clean, stay active, and boost your wellbeing.
Borrow litter picking equipment for free
We offer free equipment, including:
- litter pickers
- gloves
- bag hoops
- high-visibility waistcoats
If you’re planning a larger clean-up, let us know when you apply. We can provide branded bags and arrange for our crews to collect the rubbish from an agreed location.
Please apply at least two weeks before your planned litter pick so we can prepare everything for you.

Stay safe and report an issue
Complete a risk assessment
Once your litter pick application has been approved, we’ll send you a risk assessment template.
You’ll need to complete and return the risk assessment before your litter pick takes place. This helps identify any potential hazards and keeps everyone safe, especially when working near roads.
The template provides guidance on the information you need to include.
Report any issues
If you spot problems like fly-tipping, you can report them to us online or on the Love Clean Streets app
Litter picking in parks
You can also volunteer in parks and open spaces by joining park action days, where you can take part in litter picking and other activities to help care for your local park.
Support national campaigns
Keep Britain Tidy is a UK charity working to reduce litter and improve local places. You can support their work by logging your litter picks, whether you’re volunteering on your own or in a group.
Logging your activity helps support campaigns that aim to reduce waste, such as deposit return schemes and producer responsibility initiatives.
