Dead animals

Redbridge Council is obligated to clear dead animals from public highways.

If an animal is recovered by our Street Cleansing Team it is scanned to see if it has a microchip.

Where possible we will use the information found on the microchip to contact the owner and let them know their pet was found.

We do not have facilities to store and release deceased animals from council offices.

Redbridge Council is not responsible for removing dead animals from private or residential properties however we offer a chargeable service.

Residents must double bag the animal and leave it clearly visible in their front garden for collection for a charge of £34.00 (VAT inclusive), alternatively arrange private removal.

Street cleansing staff are not insured to enter private property so we are unable to collet from rear gardens.

To book a collection, please call our Customer Contact Centre on 020 8554 5000.

The Council can only remove deceased stray animals; we cannot collect residents' pets. For assistance with your own pets, please contact your local vet.
