Get help from the Crisis and Resilience Fund

If you’re experiencing a financial crisis or unexpected financial difficulty and cannot afford essential living costs, you may be able to get help from the Crisis and Resilience Fund.
The fund is available from 1 April 2026 to 31 March 2029.
It’s a new scheme funded by the UK Government. It was introduced following the end of the Household Support Fund and Discretionary Housing Payments schemes.
What the fund is for
The fund can provide short-term support to people facing an immediate financial crisis or a temporary difficulty with housing costs.
We’re using the fund to:
-
provide support during an urgent financial crisis
-
help people experiencing an unexpected financial emergency or hardship
-
provide practical advice and longer-term support
-
reduce the risk of future financial crises
What help you can get
There are two types of payments that you can apply for. These are:
-
Crisis Payments for people facing an immediate financial crisis or emergency
-
Housing Payments for people experiencing temporary difficulties with housing costs
We’ll also give you advice and support to help you manage your money and reduce the chance of this happening again.
We work with community organisations and local partners to help you get the right support and feel more confident managing your money.
Crisis payments
A Crisis Payment is a one-time payment for help if you’re facing an immediate financial emergency and cannot afford to pay for essential living costs.
Housing payments
Housing payment is extra help for people struggling to cover their rent or other housing costs. It’s temporary and only paid for a short time.
Financial resilience service
Everyone that receives funding will also be offered support and guidance to help them build financial resilience.
We may offer you support to help improve your finances, such as:
-
advice about your debt
-
help to claim benefits
-
help to improve your skills and find work
-
advice on energy costs
Working with community partners
We work with local services, voluntary organisations and community groups so you can get the right support when you need it.
This helps to:
-
make it easier for you to know what support is available
-
make services easier for you to access
-
help you find the right support, even if you are not sure where to start
-
connect you with local support in your community
-
support you if you are struggling with money or facing hardship
