Redbridge Mobility Card Scheme
The Redbridge Mobility Card Scheme operates for disabled residents in Redbridge. It provides a door to door transport service, primarily within a 10-mile radius of the Gants Hill roundabout.
The controller will advise you of the cost at the time of booking. Card payment will be taken at this time. Cash payments are not available.
If journeys are not taken refunds will be applied back to the account from which payment was taken.
Who is eligible?
The scheme is open to Redbridge residents over two years of age who meet one or more of the following:
- severe difficulty in walking and unable to use public transport without assistance
- registered blind
- permanent wheelchair user
- in receipt of the higher rate of the Disability Living Allowance - mobility component
- in receipt of Personal Independence Payments - 8 points or more in moving around
- in receipt of War Pensioner's mobility allowance
- unable to use public transport but able to use a taxi.
How do I apply?
You’ll need
- your recent photograph
- details of your Blue Badge (if you have one)
Proof of identity
- driving licence
- passport photo page
- birth certificate (if it’s the same as your current name)
- marriage certificate
- asylum registration card or standard acknowledgement letter
- statutory declaration of change of name
Proof of residence
- Council or housing association rent book
- tenancy agreement
- television licence or exemption
- home content insurance document confirming current policy
- benefits or pension book
- latest Council Tax bill
- letter of entitlement of benefits or pension
- utility bill dated within three months
Proof of eligibility
You’ll need to attach copies of any of the following:
- Higher rate of mobility component or Disability Living Allowance - showing certificate of entitlement and entitlement notice, dated within 12months
- registered blind – a copy of the Certificate of Visual Impairment (BD8 form)
- War Pension mobility supplement – copy of official letter of award
- proof of Personal Independence Payment - clearly showing name, address and 8 points or more in moving around
- severe difficulty in walking and unable to use public transport without assistance or permanent wheelchair user- GP's report that includes the following information:
- confirmation of your disability or condition
- how long you have had your disability condition
- how long your disability or condition is likely to last
- how your disability or condition adversely affects your ability to walk
- whether or not you use a walking aid
- a list of your prescribed medication and a recent repeat prescription
All documents must show the applicant’s name

Payment
Your payment is processed at the time of booking.
If you’re unable to make a card payment, we’ll work with you to ensure your use of the service will not be affected.
There are no monthly payment plans available if you’re on low income.
