Councillors
Councillors are your local elected representatives. They are usually members of a political party, though some may choose not to belong to any party and are called independents.
Councillors are responsible for making decisions on behalf of the community about:
- local services
- agreeing budgets and Council Tax charges

Redbridge is divided into 22 wards with 3 elected councillors for 19 wards and 2 councillors for 3 wards, making 63 councillors in total.

Redbridge Council's elected political administration
Redbridge Council is made up of:
- Labour Party who hold 43 seats (The Labour Party has overall control of Redbridge Council)
- Redbridge Independents who hold 9 seats
- Green Party who hold 5 seats
- Conservative Party who hold 5 seats
- Reform who hold 1 seat
The council’s cabinet
Members of the Council's Cabinet provide political leadership and strategic direction for the council, both within individual portfolio responsibilities and as part of the corporate responsibilities of the Cabinet.
Each member of the cabinet is democratically accountable to the public and are the public face of the council.
The cabinet usually meets monthly (apart from August), and the meetings are chaired by the Leader of the Council. The meetings are open to the public and press except where confidential matters are being discussed.
The membership of the Cabinet and responsibility for services is as follows:
- Cllr Kam Rai – Leader of the Council and Cabinet Member for Regeneration, Growth and Property: Responsible for setting the politician and strategic direction of the council. The Leader is also responsible for the regeneration of Redbridge’s town centres and high streets and the growth of the local economy.
- Cllr Vanisha Solanki – Deputy Leader of the Council and Cabinet Member for Finance and Shared Prosperity: Leads on the Council’s financial strategy, overseeing the council’s budget, investment and funding to support local growth and services.
- Cllr Saima Ahmed – Cabinet Member for Housing and Planning: Oversees housing and planning, including housing strategy, development and addressing housing needs.
- Cllr Jo Blackman – Cabinet Member for Environment and Neighbourhoods: Responsible for environmental services and neighbourhoods, including sustainability, waste management and maintaining high-quality local environments.
- Cllr Lloyd Duddridge – Cabinet Member for Children, Young People and Education: Leads on children’s services, education and support for young people, helping to ensure they are safe, supported and able to achieve their full potential.
- Cllr Sunny Brar – Cabinet Member for Enforcement, Community Safety and Cohesion: Oversees enforcement and community safety, working to tackle anti-social behaviour and strengthen community cohesion.
- Cllr Judith Garfield – Cabinet Member for Strategy and Modernisation: Responsible for strategy and modernisation, including organisational transformation and driving service improvement.
- Cllr Daniel Morgan Thomas – Cabinet Member for Adult Social Care and Health: Leads on adult social care and health, supporting vulnerable adults and working to improve health and wellbeing across the borough.
- Cllr Helen Mullis – Cabinet Member for Leisure and Culture: Responsible for leisure and culture, including community wellbeing, cultural services and access to sport and recreation.
