LOCAL COVID ALERT LEVEL HIGH. Find out what the new rules mean for you.

Volunteers are here to help.

Does your organisation need volunteers?

At the height of the coronavirus pandemic Redbridge quickly adjusted to new ways of living, and hundreds of residents stepped up and volunteered their time to support the most vulnerable. During those months the volunteers did a wonderful job of supporting local groups and organisations to keep essential services running.

Volunteer Centre Redbridge, which is run by RedbridgeCVS, now has many registered volunteers who are looking for ways to continue to support the local voluntary and community sector through volunteering, and are asking organisations to get in touch if they have any if they’re in need of volunteers. Volunteers could help an organisation to reopen their doors after lockdown or support the work that is already being done.

Cllr Helen Coomb, said:

“Volunteer Centre Redbridge do incredible work, and have been fundamental in helping us support the most vulnerable in our community during the COVID-19 national crises.

“Our residents are committed to making a difference to their communities going forward.  I hope more organisations use the services of the Volunteer Centre Redbridge to develop and promote volunteering opportunities and help recruit additional, vital volunteers.”

Age UK, said:

“When social distancing was first announced, we were inundated with calls for help with shopping from older residents. The Volunteer Centre came to the rescue. They now send us lists of potential volunteers weekly and we are able to properly vet these volunteers very quickly. The volunteers are so thoughtful and professional. We have received some really lovely comments from the people the volunteers have been helping and in the end that’s what makes it all worthwhile. ”
