Could you be a recycling hero for Redbridge? Get clever with your trash for Recycle Week 2020
Published: 16 September 2020
From figuring out what to do with leftover food, to knowing what can and can’t go in your recycling box – when it comes to recycling Redbridge has you covered!
Did you know that last year Redbridge carried out 5 million recycling collections in the borough? We also recycled 13,000 tonnes of residents’ waste – that’s the equivalent of 1,028 double decker buses!
To mark Recycle Week 2020, starting Monday 21 September, the council is running a series of free online workshops to help you discover your inner recycling hero, because every time you choose to recycle you’re helping create a cleaner and greener borough for all of us.
But it doesn’t stop there, being an avid recycler can also help you save pounds and time. For instance, did you know that most food can be frozen? So, if you’ve cooked too much, why not pop it in the freezer to eat at a later date – saving you cooking time and money on ingredients for a meal on another day.
For more top tips, and how to get the best out of recycling sign-up to our free online workshops for Recycle Week. Each workshop is 30 minutes long and includes opportunities to ask questions.

- What goes in the box? An introduction to recycling: Tuesday September 22
- What is Waste Minimisation? Compost, real nappies & reusables: Wednesday September 23
- Love food, hate waste: Thursday September 24
