Remembrance events in Redbridge

Redbridge will host six wreath-laying events over the weekend of Saturday 10 November and Sunday 11 November.
War veterans, churches and the council are preparing to pay their respects for the fallen at the Remembrance ceremonies.
Arranged by the council with the Royal British Legion, there will be a service of remembrance on Sunday at Ilford War Memorial.
Other services will be held at Woodford War Memorial, Snaresbrook Garden of Remembrance, Wanstead War Memorial, Fairlop Waters Country Park and Hainault War Memorial.

Saturday, 10th November
- Woodford War Memorial
Dedication of the Field of Remembrance, High Road, South Woodford. Assemble at St Mary’s Church Hall, High Road, South Woodford at 8:40am. The Service will commence at 9:00am.
Sunday, 11th November
- Ilford War Memorial
Civic Service of Remembrance, Memorial Gardens, Eastern Avenue, Newbury Park. Arrival at 10.40am for 10.50am.
- Snaresbrook Garden of Remembrance
Snaresbrook Road, Snaresbrook. Arrive by 10:45am
- Wanstead War Memorial
Service at Wanstead Memorial, High Street, Wanstead. Starting at 12.30pm.
- Fairlop Waters Country Park
Fairlop Waters Country Park, Forest Road, Barkingside. Starting at 2:30pm.
- Hainault War Memorial
98 Manford Way, Chigwell. Arrival at 10.40am for 10.45am.
The Mayor of Redbridge Cllr Debbie Kaur-Thiara said: “Every year, we fall silent for two minutes to remember service personnel who have died in wars and conflict. We are humbled at the sacrifices and owe them a debt of gratitude.”
The Leader of Redbridge Council, Cllr Jas Athwal is asking the Redbridge Community to knit a simple and basic Red and Black poppy which will be placed on netting and displayed on the Town Hall balconies to commemorate the 100th Centenary since the end of the Great War. The poppies are being collected at the Redbridge Town Hall. More info here.
