Become a Redbridge Foster Carer

Published: 14 May 2018

Redbridge Council is reaching out to residents this Foster Care Fortnight to ask them to help transform a child’s life.

Foster carers come from a range of backgrounds, cultures and ethnic groups and the Council needs people with a wide range of skills and real life experiences to consider fostering and help a child achieve their ambitions.

Redbridge foster carers are supported by established and experienced social workers to guide them through the process. They also receive on-going training, peer support from other carers, and generous allowances. The Council is also trailing a virtual reality training tool they hope will accelerate learning and help carers gain a deeper understanding of their role.

Residents can get in touch with the Redbridge Fostering Team by calling 020 8708 7528, emailing fostering@redbridge.gov.uk or by dropping into a monthly information session - the next being on Tuesday 12 June or Tuesday 10 July from 6pm to 8pm at Station Road Centre, Station Road, Barkingside, IG6 1NB.

The team will also be out in the community at The Exchange in Ilford from Monday 21 May to Sunday 27 May.
