Leader withdraws Brocket Way housing development proposals

Published: 21 March 2019

Council Leader Cllr Jas Athwal has today announced he will withdraw plans for a housing development at Brocket Way, following feedback from the local community.

Proposals for the 30-home modular property were due to be considered by the Planning Committee following a lengthy public consultation period and extensive engagement with local people.

Cllr Athwal made the announcement after promising residents he would take time to reflect on the proposals.

Given the housing crisis in Redbridge and the 2,300 people in temporary accommodation, he confirmed the council will still be proceeding with the request for planning permission for the 60-home development at Woodman Road, off Manford Way.

Should this be agreed, Cllr Athwal said he would work with local councillors to mitigate the impact on the existing local community.
