Redbridge Council today (Friday 24 June) paid tribute to veterans of the armed forces and those currently serving as part of Armed Forces Day.

A special celebration took place for Armed Forces Day outside Redbridge Town Hall to raise public awareness of the contributions made to our country by those who serve and have served in Her Majesty’s Armed Forces.

Cadets, soldiers and veterans were out in force as they formed a parade before raising the Armed Forces Day flag.

The speakers at today’s ceremony included The Leader OF Redbridge Council, Cllr Jas Athwal, Mayor of Redbridge, Cllr Thavathuray Jeyaranjan, and Thomas Chan, Representative Deputy Lieutenant for the London Borough of Redbridge.

Earlier today, Cllr Jas Athwal said: “Our Armed Forces officers dedicate their lives to defending and protecting. Armed Forces Day is a chance to give thanks and reflect. We thank all those who serve, those who have served and those who will continue to serve.

“We thank every family member and friend behind every officer. And we remember those who have served and are no longer with us as we mark Armed Forces Day.”
