Ilford regeneration projects

Ilford town centre is undergoing a significant transformation and we have ambitious plans for the area. The town is entering a new era with three major projects in and around the Town Hall.

Ilford market and community engagement programmes

Renowned for its large street food operation in Elephant and Castle, Mercato Metropolitano will bring its exciting offering to Ilford. When it opens, Mercato Ilford customers will be able to sample an array of good food, community events and produce from local entrepreneurs given the opportunity to operate within the covered market.

SPACE arts hub

A buzzing arts hub has already opened. SPACE, a leading contemporary visual arts organisation, have created studios, a gallery and exhibition space in the Town Hall.

Cultural Quarter -Theatre and leisure space

The Kenneth More theatre (KMT) needs a larger space and a new development will expand on KMT's legacy with a modern theatre as well as a leisure complex with a swimming pool and state of the art library.

Town Centre improvements (Public Realm)

Improvements have transformed the town centre to promote a diverse range of activities, including street art, outdoor performance and gallery space to create a safe, accessible and interactive environment.

 Ilford Station transformation

Together with Transport for London and Crossrail we are currently working to make the area around the station more accessible, convenient and safer for everyone. The main station entrance has been redeveloped in anticipation of Crossrail delivering the Elizabeth line. An additional Southern Station entrance on Ilford Hill is already open.
