Opportunities for businesses

Pay It Forward and the Back to Business Fund

Pay It Forward is a crowdfunding platform set up by the Mayor of London which will offer small businesses across the city the chance to pre-sell their services during the coronavirus shut down.

This platform connects businesses with their local communities, and by providing 100% free fundraising, businesses will be able to generate income to manage cashflow and customers can pre-buy ‘credits’ to be redeemed when the business is able to operate again.

This month the Mayor of London announced the £1m Back to Business Fund which offers up to £5,000 in match funding to small and independent businesses through the Pay it Forward London crowdfunding platform. Through the Back to Business Fund the Mayor will match every pound raised by a business up to a maximum of £5,000 - or 50% of their campaign target - to help them expand their operation online, invest in their future and adapt to safe, socially distant trading.

Trade at Mercato Ilford

The development of the Mercato Metropolitano Ilford site has been delayed because of the current measures, but Mercato are still looking to recruit local traders to be a part of the market when it is able to operate, and are seeking applications to an online event, offering the chance to be part of their mentoring programme and test trade at one of the Mercato sites.

Potential traders and community groups will be invited to pitch their ideas by applying to an online Mercato DREAMM day.

Mercato Metropolitano will be sourcing local traders to operate from the new Ilford site later this year, more information will be posted shortly.

ShopAppy is a web-based platform that lets businesses load their products (or services) and sell them via online bookings and one centralised delivery. ShopAppy.com is available to use free of charge for at least the next three months to help businesses get through these challenging times. This is a great opportunity for businesses who don’t currently trade online to join a platform which enables them to promote and sell their products and services.

Please contact us at business.enteprise@redbridge.gov.uk and let us know if you want to take this forward in your area and we will contact you to give you more details and help you sign up. Your replies will help us to get this started and to understand the demand beyond the free period.

Join the ShopAppy webinar on Wednesday 19 August to find out how this initiative can help your business.
