All in a day's play

Residents of Langley Drive had a wonderful time at their Winter Play Street! Neighbours shared food, drink, a raffle, fake snow and even a Santa's grotto! Christmas cheer was in full gear!

Play Streets are having a powerful impact on our communities in Redbridge - they help us build relationships on our doorsteps which bring people out of isolation and into fun! Is this your year to organise a Play Street on your road? The Neighbourhood Team is here to support you.

Magic roundabout

Residents of Barncepeth Gardens have shown some loving care to a scruffy roundabout and are thrilled to be watching their new plants grow as they tend them. The residents have cultivated this patch of unused land in their neighbourhood with our support. They are reaping the benefits of something lovely to look at and have built new neighbourly connections!

Do you have a patch like this near you that could do with some TLC? Get in touch to find out about our Community Gardening Projects and Support.

Hearing our young people

Redbridge is working to be a Unicef Child Friendly Borough and a panel of young people is being formed to drive and influence the action!

Pupils from secondary schools across the borough have put themselves forward for an election which will be held between the 3 to 13 February to form a dedicated Child Friendly Borough Youth Panel.
Our streets in Redbridge are shared by all ages, so let's hear the fresh voice of our young people about the place we call home!

Find out more about the Youth Council and Youth Panel.

Aldborough school strikes green!

The Eco Warriors at Aldborough school have made their school more sustainable and colourful by bringing the joy and environmental benefit of living plants to fellow pupils and their neighbouring community. Aldborough school work closely with the WE Charity and have been inspired by 'WE Go Green' to undertake this project.

The Neighbourhood Education and Engagement Officers were delighted to give the pupils planters, soil, gravel and plants, then sit back and let the young show us how it's done! These children are making a difference and paving the way. Massive well done and thank you Aldborough school!

Wear, care, share and repair

It's staggering.
Every year in the UK we throw away 350,000 tonnes of clothes.  The plants, carbon, water, transportation, skill, effort and style going in the bin is epic.

Let's stop this. Wear, Care, Share and Repair. Buy second hand, buy to last, save money and waste by rethinking your wardrobe and enjoy fashion! Here is all the information you need about buying, donating, washing, repairing and keeping your garments in tip top condition so that your clothes feel loved and not wasted.

On the subject of cloth...

Will you join in the Great British Spring clean 2020 from 20 March to 13 April? We're really hoping you'll pick to give Redbridge a great spring clean and to send a clear message that we don't want litter dropped here!

Sign up to do a litter pick with a hobby, faith, friendship or family group. There's no minimum or maximum number needed to take part- every piece picked up is worth it for our local and global environment and we'll lend you equipment!
