See you at lunch!

For the first time ever the team is going online. As part of Recycle Week 2020 London Borough of Redbridge Neighbourhood Team will be hosting workshops with Q&A sessions!

Pop over from the comfort of your own home, or even out and about with some headphones. Time lunch for the start of the event and munch and learn.

We'll be covering topics from what goes in the Redbridge recycling box, how to prevent waste at home and composting to cutting food bills by wasting less.

We'd love you to join us, at one or all of the three free sessions!

Sign up to the workshops is through Eventbrite, the workshops themselves will be delivered on Microsoft Teams. Please note you do not need a Teams account to join.

What goes in the box? An introduction to recycling (Tuesday 22 September 2020)

What is waste minimisation? Compost, real nappies and reusables (Wednesday 23 September 2020)

Love Food Hate Waste (Thursday 24 September 2020)

The Great British September Clean

We are supporting community litter picking for the Great British September Clean 2020!

Litter picking in your community is a fun way to engage and send a strong message that not everyone wants to see litter in our neighbourhoods.

Thorough COVID-19 safety guidelines relating directly to litter picking are available from Keep Britain Tidy and we advise you to read them before embarking on any clean up activity.

Residents are welcome to litter pick in their area using their own equipment but we can now lend equipment too.

Who let the rubbish out?

This area in the East of the borough had been suffering from flytipping, anti social behaviour and litter.

The Redbridge Enforcement Officers worked with the Cleansing Officers and the landowner to have a big clear up and install a new fence which will prevent the area from getting into such a state again.

Prepare to bloom!

The Big Bulb Giveaway is back and we're encouraging individuals and groups to apply for free bulbs to plant in spaces around the borough which will benefit the community.

If you have a piece of land attached to your building like a place of worship or club, or if you have a school with a verge clearly visible to neighbours we'd love to hear from you and get you ready to plant during our planting weekend in the autumn!

All sewn up

Because of current COVID-19 government social distancing guidelines, many of us may have been on the hunt for face coverings. Our team decided to try their hands at making masks themselves. The government website has some great instructions on making your own face covering. Instead of purchasing any new material we decided to use scrap material we had lying around, we didn’t have any elastic so used tote bag handles instead, they worked really well!

What will you pledge?

Sunday 20 September 2020 is Car Free Day. It's an annual day for swapping car journeys for walking, cycling or even jogging! We're taking the pledge to ditch our cars for the day and find an alternative means of travel. What will you pledge to do? You could take a walk around your neighbourhood with a friend or neighbour this will help you stay healthy, connect with others and enjoy Our Streets! Send us your pledge.
