The Redbridge Conversation finished on 31 July 2008. We would like to take this opportunity to thank everybody who took part in the Redbridge Conversation.

What was the Redbridge Conversation?

The Redbridge Conversation was a public consultation. We asked everyone who lives or works in Redbridge to talk to us about the long-term improvements they want to see in the borough, and how the Council should pay for them.

Why does the Council need to invest?

The pressures on services in the Borough are increasing. People expect more from their Council services. The population of the Borough is also growing, so we have to provide services to more people, particularly children and older people.

Some buildings such as schools need to be repaired or upgraded. Roads need to be improved and we would also like to improve our care services and create more affordable homes.

How can the Council raise the money?

We could raise Council Tax, cut services or sell property owned by the Council.

How do I join the Redbridge Conversation?

As in any conversation, people will have different views and we want to make sure your voice is heard.

  • Find out about all the Council’s investment and funding options on our website or in any Redbridge library.
  • Tell us about your long-term investment priorities with the interactive ‘You Choose’
  • Pick up a leaflet at Council offices, libraries, schools, GPs and Post Offices.
  • Take part in discussions and events across Redbridge. It is now live and will run until early July 2008.

How long does the Redbridge Conversation run for?

It ran from 16 May 2008 to 31 July 2008.

What happens next?

A group of councillors from the three main political parties are looking at all the funding and investment options. They will look at the results of the Redbridge Conversation and recommend the best way forward. The Council will make the final decision. The results of the Redbridge Conversation will be published for residents in the summer.

We have compiled a detailed list of Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs), but if you have question you don't see an answer to, ask Angela and we'll do our best to get an answer for you.
