FAQ for Street Trading | Contact for Street Trading

Fruit and veg stallStreet trading within the London Borough of Redbridge is governed by the London Local Authorities Act 1990 (as amended).

You can not sell goods or services from any stall or receptacle, or sell a vehicle, on the Highway without first having a licence.

Licences are only granted for stalls on designated pitches providing specific approved commodity ranges or for the area immediately in front of shops where specific criteria are met.

Traders are therefore prohibited from displaying goods outside their shops unless they own the forecourt land or they have a pavement trading licence. These permit trading from these locations in certain streets. Please see the page on trading outside shops for further details.

The Act also restricts the holders of Pedlars Certificates who can only sell door to door within Redbridge.

Anyone trading illegally or breaching the terms of a licence may be issued with a fixed pernalty notice.

If you would like to report illegal street trading you can either contact the Licensing Service or complete an online request for service form
