The London Borough of Redbridge's Engineering and Building Services section are responsible for the design, installation, and maintenance of the Borough's Street Lighting and Illuminated Road Signs. Our aim is to provide a safe environment for all using the Borough's roads, footpaths, housing estates, and subways. (The A12 Eastern Ave, A406 and A1400 Woodford Avenue are maintained by Transport for London (TFL).

We have a complete map linked database of all Lighting Columns and Illuminated signs, Bollards and Beacons. This database is used to ensure that, faults reported are normally repaired within three working days, and planned maintenance schedules are adhered to.

As part of our rolling replacement/improvement programme we are replacing columns throughout the Borough. We take an active role in the design of improvement schemes, and are working to improve the lighting and signing standards within the borough.
